Youth-serving and community nonprofits

More mission per dollar, with the numbers to prove it

Amanex provides nonprofit capacity building that does the work instead of describing it. We fix the hiring, compliance and reporting processes that eat your staff’s week, then leave them running.

Sound familiar?

The mission grows, the back office doesn’t

  • “Our data lives in five systems, the board wants numbers, and we’re pulling them together by hand the night before.”
  • “A funder report is due Friday, and only one person knows how to build it.”
  • “We lose good program staff every year and start hiring from scratch each time.”
  • “We found out a background check had lapsed when a funder’s monitor did.”

These aren’t failures of effort. Funding is less predictable, demand keeps rising, and funders want proof of results. The people who’d fix the process are the same people running programs.

Paying for it

Many funders will cover this as capacity building

Fixed fees, agreed up front. Many funders will cover our work as capacity building for nonprofits, and we can give you a written scope, timeline and expected measures to include in a request.

The Diagnose report doubles as evidence. It shows a funder where the process breaks today, what it costs in dollars and hours, and what the fix should change. After the fix, the monthly scorecard gives you the before-and-after your next report needs.

Many nonprofits come to us for a moment: a grant deadline, an audit on the calendar, a board retreat. We’re built for those.

What we bring

Methods large organizations pay for, applied to your mission

We use Lean Six Sigma (a set of methods for removing waste and errors from a process), design thinking and business analytics, chosen to fit the problem. The goal is simple: your staff spend more time on the people you serve and less on paperwork.

Edwine Michel, our founder, is a Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt with 20 years running operations. He served as Director of Recruitment and Retention in the nation’s 10th-largest school district, where hiring for frontline roles was the daily work. About →

How we’d start

Start with two weeks and your own records

Diagnose takes about two weeks. We look at how the work actually flows and give you a short, plain report with a recommended fix. Fix runs 4 to 12 weeks, and we do the work. With Sustain, your staff get simple procedures and short training, or we match you with a vetted specialist, and we stay on as the quality check with a monthly scorecard.

Common questions

Questions from nonprofits

Will a funder really pay for this?

Many funders cover operations work as capacity building. We’ll give you the scope, timeline and measures to include in your request. Ask the program officer early, and we can join the conversation if it helps.

We’re small. Is this too much for us?

No. Diagnose is short and scoped to your size. Small organizations often get the most from it, because one fixed process can give a director back hours every week.

Can you help with board and funder reporting?

Yes. That’s the Performance and Analytics Office. We pull your data together, set up a monthly scorecard your board or funders can read in five minutes, and make sure each goal has an owner and a measure.

Do you write grants?

Our Funding Office manages the grant pipeline, proposals, award compliance and reporting. We start with Diagnose to see where money is being missed, whether that’s unclaimed reimbursements, late reports or proposals that never get written.

Who keeps it running after you leave?

You choose. Your staff can carry it with simple procedures and short training, or we match you with a vetted specialist from our network and stay on as the quality check.

Tell us what’s eating your week.

In 30 minutes we’ll tell you honestly whether we can help, and what a diagnostic would show.
