Yellow Belt: fix a real process in 2 to 4 weeks

Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt certification for team leads, coordinators and individual contributors. One-on-one coaching, a scoped improvement project in your own organization, and the skills to keep finding and fixing problems after it’s done.

Who it’s for

For the people closest to the work

Yellow Belt is built for team leads, coordinators and individual contributors. These are the people who see every delay, workaround and repeated error firsthand, and who are often best placed to fix them.

No prior training is needed. If you can describe a process that frustrates you, you’re ready.

The skills

Process improvement basics, with AI as an analytical partner

See the process

Map how work actually flows and mark where it stalls.

Measure it

Pick a few simple measures and set a baseline.

Find the cause

Use basic root cause tools to get past symptoms.

Fix and hold it

Try a change, check that it worked and write it down so it sticks.

Work with AI

Use AI to produce the charts, maps and summaries, and spend your own time on the thinking and the decisions.

The project

A scoped project you choose

You’ll pick one contained problem in your own work, something you can improve within a few weeks. Examples include a form that keeps coming back incomplete, a handoff that loses track of requests or a report that takes too long to build.

Your coach helps you size it so it’s finishable. You’ll finish with a working improvement and the evidence to show it.

Common questions

Questions about Yellow Belt certification

Do I need any background in statistics?

No. Yellow Belt uses simple measures and plain charts. AI handles the formatting so you can focus on what the numbers mean.

How much time does it take each week?

It depends on your project, and your coach will plan around your workload. Because the project is your real work, much of the time goes into improving something you’d be dealing with anyway.

Can a group from our organization go through together?

Yes. Organizations often enroll a cohort. Each person still gets one-on-one coaching and works on a project of their own.

What comes after Yellow Belt?

Leaders who want to run larger, cross-functional projects can move on to Green Belt.

Know the process you’d fix first?
